** Earnings depend on amount of picked fruit as wage is calculated per box.

Study at GEOS Gold Coast for a minimum of 12 weeks and GEOS Gold Coast will guarantee you a job at our affiliated farm in Emerald (Central Queensland) after your studies.

The guaranteed season is May – July and again in November – January.

If you work at our affiliated farm in Emerald for 3 months, Immigration will allow you to apply to extend Working Holiday Visa for an extra year!  

Climate, Clothing Recommendations/Requirements

The Emerald Shire has a warm, dry climate with two distinct seasons, a dry winter season and a wet summer season. Winter temperatures average from 8 to 23 C, while summer temperatures range from around 22 to 34 C. The shire averages approximately 640mm of rainfall each year, falling mostly in the
summer months. Winter may be prone to wet periods so wet weather gear is advisable. All workers are required to provide their own fully enclosed footwear suitable for field work, hats and drink containers and long sleeved shirts (sunburn) for summer.

Airport Distance

Emerald airport with connections to major cities is approximately 12 kms from the farm and 5 kms from town. Emerald has large shopping areas including Woolworths and Coles Centre with other specialty shops in the Centres. Major banks are located in the town.

Accommodation Costs & Food?

Accommodation is provided in the form of individual room 'donga' style with communal kitchen and amenities. Adequate cold storage for food and cooking facilities provided for workers use.

Medical Services

Emerald is serviced by a hospital and 5 doctors surgeries. Specialists fly in for consultation and minor surgery or otherwise attend Rockhampton, 260 kms away and serviced by public transport.
